Technology Platforms Division (TPD) mission is Rakuten Cloud and Ecosystem Platform which delivers Core Value to Rakuten Group Service growth acceleration. Ongoing initiative and growing and maturing as new request coming. We build and operate robust infrastructure platform that empowers Rakuten's businesses around the world , and provides our Identity Platform (Rakuten ID) customer registration, authentication, profile management, preferences and consent management across multiple businesses worldwide. We are based in Japan, India, US and EU, and we have over 1300 members from various regions to accelerate the Rakuten ecosystem. The CDN Group provides Security and Image Delivery features to development teams throughout Rakuten by developing our own platform and leveraging third party vendor services as well. You will have the opportunity to work on mission critical services at a large, enterprise level scale. Our services must maintain a high quality while handling a tremendous amount of load. Furthermore, you will have opportunity to improve your domain knowledge around cloud security and media related services. We are looking for a Manager to lead an engineering team that is responsible for building and operating security and media related services. The role will be a combination of technical and management responsibilities, helping grow the members, advising on technical solutions, and managing customer side expectations and requests. Responsibilities: - Drive technical vision, strategy, and architecture of the group - Manage and grow a team of application engineers, and developing future leaders - Stakeholder management of customer and other technical teams to establish priorities and achieve the goals - Improve development process, with a focus on regular high-quality releases that align with our business priorities - Advising the team on selection of open source and third-party tools and platforms to increase our development efficiency and improve our technology and product offerings - Influence and align across functional teams and stakeholders on priorities and milestones and roadmap - Stay updated on market trends, and position yourself to establish new future trends - Budget planning and management - Own the overall multi-vendor CDN strategy to best utilize third party offerings as well as our own first party solutions

Required skills & Experience

Basic qualifications

- Previous leadership and management experience of a large engineering organization (at least 10, ideally 20+ members) - Outstanding people manager with the ability to influence and grow direct, indirect reports and peers - Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities in parallel -Customer-focused & product oriented mindset - Track record of mentorship at a distinguished engineering company, and development of engineering management best practices -Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented - Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and an ability to build strong working relationships with senior management and other teams

Preferred qualifications

- Knowledge of cloud security industry standards, concepts, and best practices - Knowledge of media delivery industry standards, concepts, and best practices - Prior experience working on a cloud security or media delivery service

Tech stack

Team structure: We are a growing team with about ten members in total located in Tokyo and India. We communicate primarily in English. Manager: 1 Person Vice Manager: 1 Person Members: 10 (8 in Japan, 2 in India) Most of the team members have multiple years of experience, while a few joined as entry level.
